Thriving, Not Just Surviving: Navigating the Path of College Life
By: Dwyne Matthew Sagayca
“College is not just about earning good grades—it is about growing into the person you are meant to be, one brave step at a time.”
On July 25, 2026, first-year students from various academic programs gathered at the Br. Norman Roy Gymnasium for an insightful seminar designed to help them navigate the transition to college life. The event provided meaningful learning experiences, engaging activities, and opportunities for personal growth, equipping students with a strong foundation as they prepare to embrace the challenges and opportunities of higher education.
The seminar featured two distinguished resource speakers who shared practical strategies for academic success and personal well-being. Ms. Jessa Adrein E. Gonzaga, RPm, delivered an engaging session on “How to Study Effectively, Qualities of a Good Student, and Managing Overthinking,” while Mr. Xyriel C. Tolentino, RPm, discussed “Stress Management and Adjusting to College Life.” Through their expertise, warmth, and relatable insights, the speakers inspired students to develop healthy study habits, strengthen their resilience, and maintain a positive outlook throughout their academic journey.
The program concluded with an inspiring message from Dr. Klemm Ryan Z. Bernabe, Vice President for Administration, who encouraged the students to pursue their college education with determination, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to personal and academic excellence.
More than an educational activity, the seminar served as a meaningful opportunity for first-year students to gain fresh perspectives, build self-confidence, and discover a renewed sense of purpose. As they embark on their college journey, they carry with them not only valuable knowledge and practical skills but also the courage, resilience, and optimism to thrive in every challenge and opportunity that lies ahead.
