NDKC CES Initiates Orientation and Advocacy Groupings for Academic Year 2026–2027

On August 28, 2026, the Community Extension Services (CES) of Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC) gathered students from various academic programs for the CES Orientation and Advocacy Groupings with the theme, “In Mission and In Communion: Navigating the Future, Together,” at the Br. Norman Roy Gymnasium.
More than an orientation, the activity served as an avenue for students to deepen their understanding of community engagement and develop their commitment to becoming responsible and empowered youth advocates. It provided an opportunity for students to recognize their shared purpose and explore meaningful ways to contribute to their communities.
The activity was spearheaded by Dr. Ivy B. Yecyec, Director of Community Extension Services, together with the CES Team. The event was conducted in collaboration with the College Supreme Student Government (CSSG) and club presidents from various academic programs, who served as chairs and co-chairs of the different advocacy groups.
Isabela Beatrice Rodriguez, a third-year student from the College of Business and Accountancy, and Francis Jake Aurel, a fourth-year student from the College of Engineering and Computer Education, served as masters of ceremonies. They guided the participants throughout the program, advocacy presentations, and team-building activities.
Dr. Yecyec led the orientation and provided students with an overview and reorientation of the vision, mission, and objectives of CES, emphasizing its role in fostering service, social responsibility, and community engagement. She also highlighted the significance of integrating the Human Security Approach, the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP) JEEPGY Framework—Justice and Peace, Ecological Integrity, Engaged Citizenship, Poverty Alleviation, Gender Equality, and Youth Empowerment—and the ASEAN Pillars into the students’ advocacy initiatives.
Through active participation and collaborative discussions, students were encouraged to align their organizational goals and activities with social relevance and community engagement. The activity strengthened the students’ understanding of advocacy and nurtured their commitment to serving as youth leaders who contribute to meaningful and sustainable community initiatives.
The CES, CSSG, and various student clubs also facilitated interactive activities in line with the ASEAN Day celebration and YABONG 2026. These activities provided opportunities for students to collaborate, build connections, and strengthen their sense of community while promoting shared advocacy goals.
The CES Orientation and Advocacy Groupings reaffirmed NDKC’s commitment to developing students who are not only academically prepared but also socially responsible, community-oriented, and actively engaged in addressing issues that affect society. It reminded the participants that every act of service, no matter how small, can contribute to creating a more compassionate, inclusive, and empowered community.
