NDKC Takes Part in the Search for the Most Outstanding NSTP Program
Showcasing its commitment to community service and civic engagement, the Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC) participated in the Search for the Most Outstanding National Service Training Program (NSTP) held on August 13, 2026, at the Br. Leonard Sonza Hall, NDKC, Kidapawan City.
The activity brought together representatives from the Department of Health–Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) SOCCSKSARGEN Region, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region XII, for the validation and evaluation of NDKC’s implementation of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) for Academic Year 2025–2026.
Present during the activity were NDKC administrators, deans, and students. Among those in attendance were Mr. Christopher James D. Ferrer, LPT, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Mr. Klemm Ryan Z. Bernabe, DBM, Vice President for Administration. Also present were the deans of various academic units, including Dr. Daisy P. Labadia of the College of Teacher Education, Liberal Arts, and Nursing (CTELAN) and Mrs. Fatima D. Zarza, MIT of the College of Engineering and Computer Education (CECE).
The activity was facilitated by Mrs. Josephine M. Jusay, LPT, M.A., NSTP Coordinator, and Mrs. Vilma T. Ulan, MPA, NSTP Instructor, together with the NSTP Accountancy Class Officers for A.Y. 2025–2026. They formally acknowledged the presence of the school administrators, NSTP students, and DOH-CHD XII personnel.
The program opened with a welcome message from Dr. Christopher James D. Ferrer, Vice President for Academic Affairs. In his message, Dr. Ferrer emphasized the importance of the validators’ insights in enhancing the implementation of the NSTP toward excellence and in strengthening initiatives that promote community service and civic engagement.
An intermission number followed, featuring Ms. Joverlyn Mongcal, a first-year Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English student from CTELAN, who performed “Araw Gabi” by Regine Velasquez.
The program continued with the statement of purpose delivered by Mr. Arjohn C. Gangoso, RN, MPH, MNE/HEPO-III, of DOH-CHD XII. He emphasized the vital role of the NSTP in addressing health-related challenges, particularly lifestyle-related diseases, and discussed key considerations in implementing health-oriented NSTP initiatives.
Following the health break, the DOH-CHD XII team proceeded with assessing NDKC’s NSTP activities, initiatives, and accomplishments in promoting social responsibility and civic engagement among students. The validation included interviews with Ms. Kristille Kate Bacalangco, former NSTP-Accountancy Class P.I.O., and Ms. Precious Faith Nicolas, NSTP Class Secretary, as well as the NSTP Coordinator and Instructor.
The activity was supported by the NSTP Major Officers for A.Y. 2025–2026, including Ms. Fel Lyza N. Franco and Ms. Arvin Joy Moran, both BSA 2 students, who served as hosts during the activity.
Beyond the pursuit of recognition, the activity underscored the importance of continuously strengthening programs that empower students to become active and responsible contributors to the community. For NDKC, the activity reflects its commitment to developing students who embody the spirit of faith, service, and excellence through meaningful engagement beyond the four walls of the classroom.
