NDKC Tertiary Department Holds Week-Long Pre-School Year Activities for AY 2026–2027
As part of its commitment to academic excellence and holistic formation, the Tertiary Department of Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC) successfully conducted a week-long series of pre-school year activities from July 6 to 10, 2026, in preparation for the opening of Academic Year 2026–2027. The activities were designed to strengthen instructional readiness, enhance faculty development, and foster meaningful engagement with students and parents.
The week formally commenced on July 6 with the updating and refinement of course syllabi, ensuring that instructional plans remained responsive to current educational standards, institutional outcomes, and learner needs. In the afternoon, members of the Dean’s Council convened to discuss academic priorities, policy directions, and strategic initiatives that will guide the College Department throughout the academic year.
On July 7, faculty members participated in the Office Orientation Program held at the Br. Leonard Sonza, FMS Hall. Unit Heads from the various academic and administrative offices presented their respective functions, services, policies, and operational procedures. The orientation strengthened inter-office collaboration and equipped faculty members with the information necessary to provide efficient and responsive support to students.
A major highlight of the week took place on July 8, featuring a seminar on “Workplace Spirituality and the Integrated Use of Social Media,” facilitated by Rev. Fr. Ian Jetro L. Sasi, DCK. The session emphasized the importance of nurturing a values-driven workplace culture while promoting the responsible, ethical, and mission-oriented use of digital platforms in educational settings.
In the afternoon, faculty members participated in a First Aid Training Seminar, which enhanced their preparedness to respond to emergency situations. The training was facilitated by Clinical Instructors Maira Joy M. Capilitan, RN, MNE; Mary Grace L. Aling, RN, MNE; and Ritchel P. Boloron, RN, MAN, PhD, who provided practical demonstrations and essential life-saving techniques relevant to the school environment.
On July 9, faculty members devoted the day to the preparation and enhancement of course outlines, ensuring that learning outcomes, instructional strategies, assessment methods, and course requirements were constructively aligned with the Outcomes-Based Education (OBE) framework.
The week culminated on July 10, 2026, with the Students’ and Parents’ Orientation held at the Br. Norman Roy, FMS Gymnasium in the morning. Incoming students and transferees, together with their parents, were warmly welcomed by the institutional administrators, who extended their greetings and formally introduced the institution’s vision, mission, academic policies, student services, and co-curricular programs. The orientation also provided an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between the College and families in fostering students’ academic success and personal development. In the afternoon, the same venue hosted a team-building activity from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, designed to cultivate camaraderie, collaboration, and school spirit among the participants. Through interactive games, group challenges, and reflective activities, the activity emphasized the values of unity, cooperation, and mutual support, laying a strong foundation for a positive and engaging academic journey ahead.
Through these pre-school year activities, the NDKC-Tertiary Department reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality Catholic and Marist education by ensuring that faculty members, students, and parents begin the new academic year well-informed, well-prepared, and united in the pursuit of excellence, service, and character formation.
