NDKC CES Spearheads Tree-growing Activity for Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week
The Notre Dame of Kidapawan College – Community Extension Services (NDKC CES) spearheaded a tree-growing activity featuring white lauan (Shorea contorta) on the morning of November 22, 2025, along the riverside of Brgy. Magsaysay. The initiative was carried out together with the NDKC Caritas Youth Servant Leaders (YSL) – Caritas Manila and student volunteers.
The activity formed part of the nationwide observance of Global Warming and Climate Change Consciousness Week (CCC Week) 2025, celebrated from November 19–25 with the theme “Makabagong Kilusan para sa Klima at Kinabukasan.” The week highlights the need for innovative and transformative climate action that promotes both environmental protection and community well-being.
Aligned with the City Government’s Canopy ’25 Program, the Laudato Si’ Program, and the Asia Marist Mission’s goal of growing 1 million Trees of Hope, NDKC continues its strong environmental advocacy and rights-of-nature commitment through regular tree-growing and parenting activities.
The Climate Change Commission (CCC) emphasizes a whole-of-society approach in advancing climate action across all sectors. CCC Vice Chairperson and Executive Director Robert E. A. Borje noted that addressing the climate crisis is a shared responsibility:
“Every generation always has its challenges, and climate change is the governance challenge of our generation. We have to work together because we are the answer that our country needs.”
